Celia Thibodeau

Profile:
My love for acupuncture began many years ago when I received treatment which changed my life. I have been practicingt 5-Element acupuncture since 1997. This tradition is the oldest form of acupuncture that exists. 5-Element Acupuncture works with the individual as a whole; taking into consideration body, mind and spirit and does not just focus on symptoms. Symptoms are a signal from the body that there is an underlying imbalance. My job is to determine where that imbalance lies, and to redirect the energy to bring about healing. I specialize in chronic issues, stress management, emotional wellbeing, addictions (smoking, alcohol, food), women's health, weight loss issues and preventive care. I love the work that I do, and I am a caring, considerate practitioner. In August, 2007, I completed advanced studies at Yue Yang Hospital and Shanghai University in Shanghai, China. This was an experience that I will never forget! I am also a Chinese Herbalist, therefore patients may chose treatment with acupuncture, acupuncture and herbs, or for those who prefer, Chinese Herbal Medicine with herbs only. As a Chinese herbalist, I can prescribe personalized formulas that heal on the body, mind and spirit level. My credientials are as follows: L. Ac.& M. Ac. from the Worsley Institute of Classical Acupuncture, FL, Chinese Herbalist Degree from the Academy of 5 Element Acupuncture, FL, Licensed in Maine, Nationally Certified by the NCCAOM, Trained in Zero Balancing by the Upledger Institute, Trained in Shiatsu by On Balance, NADA Certification for addictions, Tumor/Cancer Treatments with Scalp Acupucnture, Dr. Huo, Orlando, FL, Advanced Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine at Yue Yang Hospital, and Shanghai University, Shanghai, China 2007, & Korean Hand Therapy. I also hold an Associate Degree in Business Administration from USM, a Bachelor Degree in Industrial Technology from USM.

Lisa Dulac MS, L.Ac

Profile:
Lisa’s interest in holistic medical care started when she sought care for her own health. After being treated by holistic/natural health practitioners, she realized how truly “taken care of” she felt and began to notice improvements right away. After being treated, she knew what she wanted to do and began her own journey in acquiring the knowledge to heal others. Not only does she look at the signs and symptoms of a disease, but she also looks at the person as a whole entity who has imbalances causing “dis-ease”. Lisa also believes in the powerful connection that happens between the patient and the practitioner. Connecting with the patient is an integral part of the healing process. Lisa graduated from New York Chiropractic College with a Master’s degree in Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine and also studied in Hangzhou, China at an integrative medical hospital. Lisa gained extensive clinical knowledge in areas including gastro-intestinal, OB-GYN, neurological (stroke, Bell’s Palsy), and general pain management. Lisa’s special interests include woman’s health, gastro-intestinal disorders, and mental/emotional disorders.

Mary Beth Hassett

Profile:
Mary Beth Hassett graduated from the Masters Degree program at Five Branches Institute in 1997. She has a Masters in Traditional Chinese Medicine and is nationally certified as a Diplomate of Oriental Medicine which includes Acupuncture and Chinese Herbal Medicine. Mary Beth also holds a BA in Art History and Spanish from Boston College. In addition to formal schooling Ms. Hassett apprenticed with Holly Guzman in Santa Cruz and Ken Pang in San Francisco and later Palo Alto. Holly taught Mary Beth the true subtleties of acupuncture and moxabustion (where an herb, moxa, is burned on or above the skin at acupuncture points). Holly’s work was influenced by Kiiko Matsumo and the benefits of abdominal palpation; as part of a study group, Avi Magidoff furthered Mary Beth’s instruction about Kiiko’s style. Mary Beth studied more about Japanese acupuncture with a group of blind acupuncture masters from the Toyohari Association in Japan, and through this experience was able to hone her pulse-taking and palpation skills. She completed the Toyohari training program in Washington D.C. in 2001. In 2006 Mary Beth studied with Sharon Wiezenbaum in Amherst, MA where she completed her two-year Advanced Herbal Studies program as well as a Mandala Acupuncture Program which she now incorporates as part of her treatments.

Mary Chaney

Profile:
I graduated from the Traditional Acupuncture Institute in Columbia, MD in 1989. For the past 20 years, I have been honing my skills and adding new techniques that I learn every year. When I first meet a patient I get a complete health history and look at the "big picture" to see what is going on with their health. Sometimes a sore shoulder is just a sore shoulder... but usually its part of a more complex picture. It's important to treat the whole body not just the symptom that is making the most noise at the moment.

Sandy Thomason

Profile:
Sandy has been an acupuncturist for over ten years and loves what she does. She starts each treatment with the basics: that love heals and that the way to true transformation is through kindness to ourselves and others. Sandy received her Master's degree in Acupuncture from the Tai Sophia Institute in Laurel, Maryland in 1997. She holds a Bachelors degree in Psycholinguistics from Oberlin College. New patients are given the opportunity to discuss their issues in depth, finding new ways to look at what may seem like an untenable situation. From here, Sandy brings a staunch courage and ability to look right at the pain or problem, working individually with you to create better health. Sandy has practiced acupuncture in a variety of settings over the last ten years: in addition to private practice Sandy has worked at the Baltimore City Detention Center in the drug treatment center; at the Columbia Animal Hospital as a certified (in the state of Maryland) Animal Acupuncturist; in New Orleans after hurricane Katrina out in the streets; and providing group stress relief for office workers. Her studies include classes with the renowned Giovanni Maciocia, Sharon Weizenbaum, Ted Kaptchuk, Elizabeth Rochat de la Vallee and Thea Elijah. She has also studied with the distinguished medical doctors Ibrahim Jaffe, MD and John Laird, MD. Often people ask, “do you have to believe in acupuncture for it to work?” Sandy spent five years working half time in a veterinarian's office treating dogs, cats, rabbits, ferrets and some large animal pets as well. Whether these animals “believe” in the treatments is anyone's guess, but they do find improvement of symptoms and healing through use of acupuncture.

Profile:
I was one of the early acupuncturists in this country, a pioneer of sorts. I began practicing in Maine in 1979 - the first full time practitioner in the state. I was drawn to acupuncture because it incorporated the body, the emotions, and the spirit. I intuitively knew that for me, this combination was the path to healing. After 30 years, I continue to be inspired and deeply moved each day as I practice this beautiful work. I have recently added Integrated Awareness, a hands-on energy work, to further augment my energetic pallet.
